Position Descriptions:

                    Manages and maintains all production and non-production databases.

                    Responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration.

                    Performs backup and recovery on Database Management Systems, configures database parameters, and prototype designs against logical data models, defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements.

                    This position optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost.

                    Performs professional level work.

                    Develops solutions requiring analysis and research.

                    Responsible for critical work and/or complex projects performed within a broader technical and business context.

 

Required Skills

                    Requires technical knowledge, training and understanding of a jobs requirements.

                    Typically possesses 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience.

 

Preferred Skills:

                    3+ years of experience managing production Oracle database management systems (10g, 11, 11r2, 12c)

                    Proficiency with SQL; especially with optimizing queries

                    Proficiency with relational database management system performance tuning, backup and recovery

                    Proficiency with Linux

                    Proficiency with Shell scripting (Perl, KSH, CSH, etc.)

                    Knowledge of advanced data storage technologies

                    Experience in logical database modelling and physical database design

                    Knowledge of scalable data architectures

                    Willingness/ability to work off-shifts (evening, night-time, weekend)

                    Strong customer service orientation

                    Effective verbal and written communication skills

                    Ability to multi-task.

                    Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

                    Strong problem solving and analytic skills
