Technical skillsets:
Worked on end to end (Requirements, Design, Development, QA, Release, and Maintenance) of commercial and public facing iOS apps (iPhone/iPad) a standalone as well as integrated with backend services. Hands on is required.
Should have knowledge of e-Commerce (in-app purchases), iTunes product setup, newsstand, push notification. Should be up-to date on the latest iOS features. Experience with SQLite, CoreData.
Good perspective/awareness of HTML5 based and hybrid mobile apps.
UI development background in HTML5, HTML, CSS3, Javascript, JQuery, Liquid layout, Responsive design is desirable
Experience with RESTful services, XML and JSON processing.
Worked on Android apps a standalone as well as integrated with backend services. Should have a good overall perspective on Andorid development, even if not hands on.
Publishing background is desirable.
Java development background is a plus.
Soft skillsets:
Good communication skill.
Should be self-motivated, proactive and not require micro-management.
Should be able to participate and contribute in requirements discussion and articulate design concepts.
Should be able to participate and contribute to technology research and evaluations in mobile publishing space. Should be on top of mobile trends, especially in publishing industry.
Should be at ease working with business, technology, operations and customer service, not only for development of new apps, but also maintain
Should be able to work with a team of offshore developers and responsible for scoping of requirements, estimation, coding, reviewing and mentoring as well as coming up with solutions design.
Experience with Agile and Iterative SDLC
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the design and development of mobile client applications for publishing industry and focused on delivering high quality mobile applications for mobile environments such as iOS and Android. The candidate needs to be on top of current market trends in mobile space.
Establishes work standards and guidelines.
Required to understand product requirements, write functional, high and low level design specifications, implement and deliver quality product solutions in a timely manner to meet business and market needs with little direct supervision.
The candidate is hands on, develops and supports application software that is delivered on time and within budget. Leads major technical design, engineering and integration efforts.
Will work with an existing team providing guidance, mentoring and training to more junior staff.
Be the subject matter on mobile and provide technological insights with rapid prototypes when necessary. Recommends technical strategy and direction in area(s) of expertise and participate in development and evolution of architecture.
Performs engineering cost/benefit analysis to verify potential effectiveness of new projects and builds new high level designs as required.
Communicates and proactively, influences and educates members of technical and managerial staff on technology issues.
Provides regular status reports and visibility into the project execution.
Makes recommendations on the impact and implementation of new technologies/development methodologies. Works closely with Business Analysis and Project Management functions to ensure correct technical design. Modifies and/or writes technical and operator documentation.
Participates in the development and usage of standards to achieve efficiencies. |
