Urgent Need: Network Security Engineer @ Durham, NC

We are looking for Network Security Engineer position @ Durham, NC


Work Location : Durham, NC

Duration: 12 Months

As an Information Systems Engineer you are part of a 24/7 infrastructure services operations team that is responsible for incident operations, problem investigation, management, and resolution,
and proactive maintenance in pursuit of extremely high uptime and rapid return to service. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand and address customer needs and react
quickly to support and operations issues.

Job Requirements:


  • Strong Knowledge and Hands-on Experience with Firewall Administration and Troubleshooting
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with TCP/IP networks, firewalls, routers, switches, content filters, intrusion detection systems, and SSL concentrators.
  • Working knowledge of 1 or more end-point security systems, including Carbon Black, JAMF, Intune, Avecto, and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) is required.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with network essentials such as OSI Stack, L3 (Routing, Dynamic Routing), L2 (Arp, TCP Handshake), L1 (Connectivity)
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting Tools like SSH/Telnet Terminal, WireShark, FTP/SFTP/TFTP/SCP clients, RDP clients
  • Knowledge of VPN and SSL VPN Portal Setup and Troubleshooting
  • Additional experience with Palo Alto Networks, Juniper ScreenOS, and Cisco ASA security devices is a plus.
  • Basic user-level skills on 1 or more end-point devices is also a plus, including Windows 10, Mac OS, Android, and iOS.

The Command Center Operations group is part of IT function and is responsible for a wide range of foundational and infrastructure technical expertise. As a part of a team, you will help to
ensure that team objectives and operational goals are met.

Essential functions:

* Provide specific technology operations support during assigned shift. Handle incident tickets, speak with end-users, work on problem tickets, perform proactive maintenance, and resolve critical
operations issues rapidly and effectively.
* Properly update all tickets using established documentation standards to ensure issues are well documented, stakeholders are informed, and issues are closed.
* Follow all operational processes from high level processes like incident and problem management to specific processes like hardware decommissioning and escalations.
* Strictly adhere to all Change Control processes and rules to prevent unexpected outages.
* Problem diagnosis and resolution.
* Ensure client satisfaction and client management.
* Reporting to customers and management on status, resources needs, and projected outcomes.
* Good oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with other Command Center team members to support deadlines; ability to work independently as well.
* Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to utilize them in an operations environment.
* Ability to follow standard operational principles and practices and use software management tools appropriately.
* Creative approach to problem solving.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently with competing deadlines.
* Willingness to work shifts or be on call, which may occur during off hours or on weekends or on holidays.
Technical Skill Requirements
* Strong Knowledge of firewall system administration skills

* Working Knowledge of Management Tools like SSH/Telnet Terminal, WireShark, FTP/SFTP/TFTP/SCP clients, RDP clients
* Working Knowledge VPN and SSL VPN Portal Setup and Troubleshooting
* Working Knowledge of network essentials such as OSI Stack, L3 (Routing, Dynamic Routing), L2 (Arp, TCP Handshake), L1 (Connectivity)
* Palo Alto Networks, Juniper ScreenOS, Cisco ASA experience preferred.

Education & Experience:

* A minimum of 8 years of experience is required; 5+ years of experience is preferred.
* An associate*s degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other related field is required; or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, moderately complex technical tasks.
Responsibility and Interaction:
* Responsibility:
o The types of tasks this individual is responsible are a mix of structured and unstructured tasks. This individual will apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving routine to moderately
complex problems.
* Interaction:
o This individual interacts primarily with Staff to Director level employees within the function, and the technical team on assigned shifts. There may be communication with employees in other
functions as required.
o General direction is provided on operations work, and detailed direction is provided on complex outages and high priority tickets; as well as on-going review of activities and priorities.
o The ideal candidate will be an important contributor or lead on existing IT operations teams.
