Job Description  |  The SQL DBA provides the operational support and development of the Microsoft SQL Server Infrastructure (Production and Non-Production environments, which includes Database Servers, Database Services, and implementation of SQL based tools and infrastructure). The SQL DBA will provide tier 2 and tier 3 technical support for Database systems. 
  Summary  The SQL Server DBA role is responsible for providing operational database services for the Corporate Infrastructure. This is a production DBA role; as such it will require some after-hours support. Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs, reviewing service related reports (e.g.: database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved, and working with team members to come up with strategic solutions. 
   Responsibilities: 
  Build, configure and deployment of SQL Databases and Systems  Development and Oversight of backup strategies for the SQL Server Infrastructure  Setup and Management of SQL Reporting Services  Configuration and Setup of Dashboard solutions for SQL based infrastructure  Create Ad Hoc Reporting from SQL  Coordinate patch management process for all Database Servers  Manage SQL Database Security  Build, configure, and deployment of Windows SQL Server clusters  Document and maintain build documents for all Database Server builds and configurations.  Maintain the product service catalog, lifecycle management and related documentation  Establish and maintain Microsoft SQL Database architecture best practices, including procedures, guides, templates, and relevant documentation  Work closely with business and IT associates, and outside vendors to effectively choose, plan, deploy and maintain system changes.  Provide 24x7 support of the SQL environment, including on call support.  Provide day-to-day support, guidance, and mentoring to team members.  Perform other duties as assigned. 
  Requirements: 
  Bachelor???s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required  7 + years experience working in information technology required5 + years as a Database Administrator with MSSQL Server 2005 or higher preferred  Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems  Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools  Experience with backups, restores and recovery models  Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server  Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts  Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics  Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations.  Good communication and documentation skills  Involvement with the MSSQL Server Community; memberships with LUG???s is a plus     Certification is a plus; MCTS, MCITP, Microsoft MVP
