Position Summary:
Serves as technical expert to a US Department of Labor Program’s application development effort in using Business Objects XI suite of tools. Works with Lead Architect and Business Analyst to ensure that infrastructure is compatible with overall technical and business needs. Identifies opportunities for improvement, makes proposals and participates in the planning of new and enhanced technologies or services within area of expertise.
Essential Job Functions:
- Plans, installs, configures tests and prepares, as well as potentially oversees, the implementation and administration of Business Objects in an enterprise wide multiplatform, distributed and clustered environment.
- Develops Business Objects related processes and provides best practice standards for the tool.
- Identifies, develops, and updates standards and procedures and ensures that products comply with existing standards and procedures.
- May assist and provide advice to operations staff with particularly complex or difficult technical issues related to area of expertise.
- Provides supports to development and infrastructure projects in area of expertise. Solicits, captures, and translates stakeholder requirements and relates to overall technical needs and project.
Other Job Functions:
- Participates in Integrated Project Team meetings.
- Coordinates activities with program / project manager.
- Develops software development tools related processes and provides best practice standards for the selected tools.
- Supports efforts of Engineering Review Board through analysis of technical requirements.
- Provides input to project-related documentation including PMLC and SDLCM documents.
- Provides weekly status reports on project activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 4 years experience with Business Objects using DB2 RDBMS
- Experience in analyzing, configuring, maintaining, and administering an enterprise-wide Business Objects XI environment (e.g., multiple repositories/universes, WEBI, etc.)
- Experience with Business Objects Data Integrator
- Experience with Business Objects Dashboards
- Experience in supporting Business Objects development teams with complex reports and configuration requirements.
- Experience working in multi-platform networked and clustered environments
- Experience in applying enterprise-wide standards and/or implementing industry best practices
- Good oral and written communications skills and the ability to prepare clear, well-written documents such as procedures, analysis, and operation guides
