Description
Installs, configures, tests, monitors, manages, and validates Informatica components. Manages the data extraction, transformation, movement, loading, cleansing, and updating processes into the DW environments using the Informatica tools. Maintains the Informatica environments along with settings standards and procedures for the data warehouse environments. Designs and writes the scripts required to extract, transform, clean, and move data and metadata, so it can be loaded into a data warehouse, data mart, operational data store, metadata repositories, or business intelligence environments.
Specific Responsibilities Include :
• Develop, test and implement efficient ETL (Extraction, Transform and Load) code to populate data integration layers (data warehouses, ODS and data marts) to support business requirements.
• Plan and support lifecycle of data warehousing infrastructure components including database, operating system, ETL tools as well as various vendor products.
• Optimize the data environment in order to efficiently access enterprise data.
• Monitor performance of data warehouse ETL processes to ensure service level agreements with our users are met and implement tuning as needed to address scalability issues typical in large data warehouse implementations.
• Maintain and manage technical meta data for data warehousing environments.
• Develop guidelines and procedures governing enterprise-wide data collection and extraction.
• Develop and implement data naming conventions for enterprise data warehouse systems.
• Work closely with the database administrators with physical database designs, performance metrics and backup/recovery requirements
• Support multiple test and QA data warehouse environments supporting multiple business units.
• Provides 24/7 support of multiple production data warehouses serving multiple business units. Continuous monitoring of key metrics associated with performance and resource utilization.
Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or other relevant technical experience
• 5+ years professional related experience with Informatica.
• In depth understanding of data warehouse concepts, methodologies and infrastructure including dimensional data modeling, change data capture, data quality, operational data stores, data warehouses, meta data management, data marts and business intelligence reporting platforms.
• Knowledge of DBMS indexing and partitioning schemes to identify and optimize performance of ETL and BI reporting layers.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to identify and isolate issues, assess impacts and formulate recovery scenarios
• Knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts and tools (Erwin) for designing and optimizing DW/BI solutions
• Ability to assimilate business requirements from a wide range of user groups and guide them in the application of best practices for their data warehouse/BI solutions
• Knowledge of project management and development lifecycle, business intelligence concepts, reporting and analytic tools
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with a variety of users, technical personnel and management. |
