1. Javascript – full application development with javascript. Includes understanding of the prototypal object model, dom access via javascript, dynamic loading and more.
2. Experience with a full javascript framework – Ideally ExtJS would be that framework, but if they have extensive experience with YUI, Dojo, JQuery/JQueryUI, Prototype or a suitable other all javascript framework that is acceptable. They can easily learn ExtJS if they have heavy experience with one of the others.
3. AJAX/Event Driven programming – experience with AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript and XML), in a cross-browser environment. Understanding javascript callbacks and event driven programming as it relates to AJAX driven web applications.
4. JSON – We don’t use XML. We use JSON as the transport format for our data and our APIs. They need to have lots of experience in reading/writing AJAX between a server and a web browser client, use of complex structures in JSON and an understanding of how JSON translates to javascript objects on the client side.
